The right to obtain information on the processing of personal data by a competent authority
You have the right to obtain information on the purpose for which a competent authority collects your personal data and on how it is processed.
The authority will normally provide these details on the processing of your personal data in writing. Often a description of the processing of personal data is also available on the website of the authority in question.
The authority may omit all or part of the information. In such a case, the prerequisite is that omitting the information is necessary in order to
- avoid detriment to the prevention, detection, investigation or prosecution of criminal offences or the enforcement of criminal sanctions
- safeguard any other investigation, examination or other procedure of an authority
- protect public security
- protect national security
- protect the rights of other persons.
